More Buses for Stamford Bridge

One service that I haven't done a very good job of monitoring has been First York's service 10 between Stamford Bridge, Dunnington, York and Poppleton. The route - which just serves the East Riding of Yorkshire at Stamford Bridge - had been operating every 40 minutes-ish Monday to Saturday daytimes, every hour-ish Monday to Saturday evenings and every 1 hour 15 minutes-ish on Sunday daytimes. I use 'ish' because of First's hideous AI timetabling that meant no even intervals; as an example from Stamford Bridge Monday to Friday post-peak had departures at 0906, 0946, 1020, 1101, 1142, 1217, 1259, 1338, 1416, 1459. Every 40 minutes isn't very memorable, add AI into the mix and it's exceptionally messy.

Positively however, First increased their frequencies from Sunday 31st May. Monday to Saturday daytimes are now every half hour, albeit on Saturdays and late afternoon Monday to Friday, intervals between journeys do slightly alter. For example from Stamford Bridge Saturday daytime departures are at 1111, 1141, 1211, 1241, 1311, 1342, 1412, 1442, 1509, 1539, 1611. Sunday daytimes are now every 1 hour 10 minutes-ish - the AI is still there - which provides an extra journey in each direction.

Not perfect, but a lot better than before.

For background, East Yorkshire also provide a half hourly service via Dunnington into York Monday to Saturday daytimes and Friday and Saturday evenings, with an hourly service Monday to Thursday evenings and Sunday daytimes.

Friday and Saturday Evening Withdrawals in the Bridlington Area

Friday and Saturday evening services were cut in Bridlington from the start of June, with the withdrawal by East Riding of Yorkshire Council of Bus Service Improvement Plan funding for the evening services on routes 504 and 513 due to "low" usage. Both services are operated by East Yorkshire Buses. The affected journeys operated for the last time on Saturday 30th May 2026, having commenced on Friday 2nd February 2024.

On service 504 from Bridlington to Bempton via Queensgate, Marton Road, Bempton Lane, Darwin Road and Buckton, this meant the cessation of the 1900 from Bempton to Bridlington and the 2310 from Bridlington that extended beyond Bempton to Flamborough village, Thornwick Bay Holiday Village and North Landing. Daytime journeys, including the weekend Bus Service Improvement Plan funded services, were unaffected.

The last service 504 departure from Bempton is now at 1600 Friday or 1512 Saturday and from Bridlington Bus Station at 1530 Friday or 1640 Saturday. Marton Road and Bempton Lane have departures from Bridlington Bus Station up to 1930 with service 12, and in Summer Marton Road also has service 13 operating until 2105. The last service from Bridlington to Flamborough is at 2135 on route 14. From Bridlington to Bempton, the last Northern Rail service departs at 2103. So whilst alternatives exist for early and mid evening travel, not so for the withdrawn late evening journey.

Service 513 previously provided an hourly evening circular service from 1830 to 2230 from Bridlington Bus Station via the West Hill Estate, New Pasture Lane, Bridlington Old Town, Westgate and Brett Street back to the Bus Station. The two hourly Sunday daytime service continues to operate.

Limited early and mid evening alternatives remain via 'main road' services that go close to the West Hill and New Pasture Lane estates. For West Hill, service 41 has departures from Bridlington Bus Station at 1845 and 1955 on Fridays, and at 1825 and 1950 on Saturdays. Services 12 and 13 mentioned above serve Scarborough Road by the entrance to the New Pasture Lane estate,

No more Saturdays to Sledmere

Another casualty of East Riding of Yorkshire Council removing Bus Service Improvement Plan funding from a small number of services due to "low" usage, was the Saturday service on route 535. The 535 links Driffield to Sledmere, also serving Garton, Wetwang, Fridaythorpe and Fimber. Two circular journeys from Driffield had been provided at 1040 and 1549, operated by East Yorkshire Buses. The Saturday 535 had commenced on 19th April 2025 and operated for the final time on 30th May 2026. The Tuesday and Thursday service on route 535 operated by East Hull Community Transport was unaffected.

594 ends after 18 Months

Due to "low" usage, East Riding of Yorkshire Council removed funding for some Bus Service Improvement Plan funded services at the end of May 2026. This included service 594 which provided a Tuesday market day link from Fridaythorpe to Pocklington via Millington, with one journey in each direction. The 594 was introduced on 3rd December 2024, operated by York Pullman, before passing to East Yorkshire Buses from 2nd September 2025. The final day of operation was 26th May 2026. Fridaythorpe, Millington and Pocklington remain linked on Summer weekends via seasonal service 200.

21 Transport 60 Revised

21 Transport operated North Lincolnshire Council tendered service 60 between Scunthorpe, Burton Upon Stather, Thealby and Whitton was revised on 27th April 2026. The 1000 and 1100 journeys from Scunthorpe to Thealby were consolidated into a single 1045 departure, whilst the 1026 and 1126 from Thealby to Scunthorpe were similarly consolidated into a single 1112 service. Other daytime journeys were slightly retimed, with increased layover between services in Scunthorpe. All changes applied Monday to Saturday.

Back to Stagecoach after 7 Months

Tuesday 2nd September 2025 saw Grayscroft Coaches take over Lincolnshire County Council tendered service 25 between Market Rasen, Binbrook and Grimsby from Stagecoach. On Tuesday 7th April 2026, the service returned back to Stagecoach operation. It continues to operate Tuesday and Friday only, departing Market Rasen at 0930 and Grimsby at 1330. although as per bustimes.org it appears to have been rerouted in Grimsby via Weelsby Road and Hainton Avenue; the section of Weelsby Road served is otherwise served on school days only.

Significant Improvements to Saturday 399

On Monday 7th April 2025 service 399 between Scunthorpe, the Isle of Axholme and Doncaster became an even interval two hourly service Monday to Friday, including peak services to/from Doncaster replacing weekday extensions of First's 357. From Easter Saturday 2026 - 4th April - almost identical changes occurred on Saturdays (when the whole service is tendered).

Previously on Saturdays - when all service 399 journeys are operated by Stagecoach - there were two full route journeys between Scunthorpe and Doncaster and four extra 'short' journeys between Scunthorpe and Westwoodside, of which the first two 'shorts' from Scunthorpe omitted Althorpe, Derrythorpe, West Butterwick, Beltoft, Owston Ferry and East Lound. Spacing between journey's wasn't good, for example three out of the six journeys from Westwoodside to Scunthorpe operated between 1626 and 1847. There was also First's 357 between Finningley and Doncaster which had one journey extended to start in Epworth in the morning peak, and one journey extended to/from Epworth in the evening peak, serving Haxey and Westwoodside en-route.

Now it's five full route Scunthorpe to Doncaster 399 journeys, including a brief diversion via Yorkshire Wildlife Park, plus two Scunthorpe to Westwoodside 'shorts' in each direction. All journeys serve all Isle of Axholme villages. The frequency is every two hours, with some variation at the start and end of the day. The Saturday 357 extensions to Epworth are withdrawn, with the 357 now operating wholly within South Yorkshire.

As well as the frequency enhancement and general simplification, the Saturday service is now almost identical to the weekday college holiday service, when most journeys are operated by Hornsbys. The exception is in Westwoodside, where the 'college time' service on college holiday weekdays follows the same route as the college day service via Newbigg. The equivalent Saturday journeys however follow the evening peak time loop via Newbigg, Doncaster Road and Westwoodside Pond, giving greater penetration of the village. For everywhere else though, Monday to Friday and Saturday timetables are now identical providing further simplification of the service.

No more early morning 11 in Scunthorpe

North Lincolnshire Council tendered Scunthorpe Early Morning Town Circular Service 11, operated by Stagecoach, was cancelled after operation on Tuesday 31st March "as funding has been withdrawn". Presumably the unusual midweek finish date was due to the financial year. No usage details for the 11 are known.

The 11 operated two journeys Monday to Saturday, departing Scunthorpe Bus Station at 0625 and 0705 and returning to the Bus Station at 0700 and 0740. From the Bus Station, service 11 operated via Ashby Road, West Common Lane, Plymouth Road, Bristol Road, Scotter Road, Lichfield Avenue, Dryden Road, Enderby Road, Willoughby Road, Chancel Road, Grange Lane South, Ashby High Street and Ashby Road back to the Bus Station.

In terms of alternatives, Ashby High Street and Ashby Road are catered for by Hornsby's service 4 Monday to Friday with 0640 and 0713 arrivals into Scunthorpe Bus Station. There is also a Stagecoach 100 Monday to Saturday along Ashby Road arriving at 0722. Plymouth Road, Dryden Road and parts of Enderby Road can access Scunthorpe Bus Station by 0727 on service 2 Monday to Saturday, whilst Grange Lane South has an 0742 first arrival Monday to Saturday on service 6. The first service from West Common Lane, Lichfield Avenue and parts of Chancel Road into Scunthorpe Bus Station now arrives at 0840 on service 3 Monday to Saturday (or 0827 using service 90 from the John Leggott College stop on West Common Lane on college days).

The sections of Bristol Road and Willoughby Road served by the 11 are now unserved, as are parts of Enderby Road. One stop on Enderby Road and a pair of stops of Chancel Road are now served only by the evening and Sunday 1A/2A.

As can be seen by the above, other than Ashby High Street and Ashby Road Monday to Friday, no replacement exists for the 11's first journey, but more areas have an alternative for the second journey.

The history of the 11 can be traced back at least 39 and a half years. As of 26th October 1986, the 340 operated from Lichfield Avenue to Scunthorpe Bus Station via the same route (other than approaching the Bus Station), with a single 0635 departure Monday to Saturday. The same timetable was still in place in the 1995, 1999 and 2000 timetables I have. By 31st March 2003 the service started back at High Street East with two departures at 0625 and 0705. The 340 was renumbered to the 13 on 24th April 2006. The starting point changed to Scunthorpe Bus Station by 1st June 2015 and the renumbering to the 11 occurred as part of the Simplibus network on 29th October 2018.

M1 now operating on Saturdays

The East Yorkshire operated M1 Moorsbus service from Hull to Pickering via the University of Hull, Cottingham, Beverley, Driffield and Malton has returned for Summer 2026. One journey in each direction continues to be provided, this year departing Hull Paragon Interchange at 0845 and Pickering at 1645. The big improvement for 2026 is that the service now operates on Saturdays as well as Sundays and Bank Holidays.

Within Hull the route has been slightly revised to serve Princes Avenue and Newland Avenue rather than Beverley Road. It is also worth noting that the M1 resumed on Easter Saturday - 4th April, rather than the early May bank holiday weekend as occurred in 2025. The season ends on September 27th.

Extended Sunday service for Flamborough

East Yorkshire service 14 between Bridlington and Flamborough gained extended Sunday operational hours from 29th March, starting two hours earlier in the morning - 0720 rather than 0920 from Bridlington Bus Station - and running one hour later - 1820 rather than 1720 last departure from Bridlington Bus Station. The 14 operates every hour daily daytimes with a Summer Monday to Saturday early and mid-evening service.

Bridlington to Scarborough Updates

East Yorkshire Buses made a number of changes to their service 12 between Bridlington, Filey and Scarborough from Sunday 15th February.

Arguably the biggest change was the extension within Scarborough of most Monday to Saturday daytime journeys from the Railway Station to Peasholm Gap, operating via North Marine Road. East Yorkshire's explanation at the time focused on the benefits to North Marine Drive, which went from I think 4 services per day on now withdrawn route 5 to Ravenscar, to an hourly service on route 12. It does though also introduce new connectivity from Bridlington to Scarborough North Bay and it's attractions including Peasholm Park, so certainly has benefits to customers along the whole route.

Smaller, but useful changes were also made in Bridlington. Previously services which diverted in Bridlington via both Bempton Lane and Trentham Drive were limited to the 0710 Scarborough to Bridlington and the 1525 Bridlington to Scarborough Monday to Friday, as well as three Sunday daytime journeys in each direction. "Following feedback from the East Riding EP Forum" [EP = Enhanced Partnership], the Monday to Friday 0555 Scarborough to Bridlington, the Saturday 0615 and 0715 Scarborough to Bridlington, the Monday to Saturday 1655 and 1750 Scarborough to Bridlington, the Monday to Saturday 1830 and 1930 Bridlington to Scarborough and all Sunday services (hourly frequency) now make the diversion as well. This is a significant boost to Bempton Lane and Trentham Drive's early morning, early evening and Sunday service provision, with only a small time penalty for other passengers.

On Sunday 29th March, East Yorkshire reintroduced seasonal service 13 between Bridlington and Scarborough via the coastal holiday villages. Previously the 13 made a short diversion via Aquarium Top for Scarborough South Bay en-route to/from Scarborough Station. Now (apart from the final evening services into Scarborough) it has been revised to operate an anti-clockwise loop via the South Bay Seafront, around Marine Drive to Peasholm Gap then via Columbus Ravine to Scarborough Station. This provides greatly enhanced access to Scarborough's tourist attractions. Outbound services continue to serve Aquarium Top after departing the Station.

Rather unfortunately, the co-ordination between services 12 and 13 has been notably downgraded with these changes. Last year there were departures every 20 minutes from Scarborough to Filey in peak Summer, and a 20-40 minute interval between Bridlington services. Now it is every half hour from Scarborough to Bridlington - better - but with the 12 and the peak Summer Filey 'short' service 13 workings both leaving Scarborough Station at five minutes past the hour - Scarborough to Filey on East Yorkshire Buses is effectively downgraded from every 20 minutes to every half hour. From Bridlington, in 2025 there was a half hourly service to Scarborough, and from Filey to Scarborough in peak Summer departures left at 8, 25 and 44 minutes past the hour. In 2026, the 12 departs Bridlington at 25 past the hour and the 13 at half past the hour - from half hourly to almost 'hourly with a duplicate'. From Filey into Scarborough services depart at 10, 22 and 52 minutes past the hour.

It is also worth noting that the 2040 and 2140 service 13's from Scarborough to Bridlington and 2200 from Bridlington do not return this year. In 2025 they had operated Friday and Saturday all season, plus Monday to Thursday from late May to late August. Last departures from Scarborough are now 1935 and 2105 from Bridlington.

East Yorkshire Hull to York Corridor Changes

In line with various other services, East Yorkshire Buses routes X45, X46 and X47 saw early morning, late afternoon and early evening reductions from Sunday 15th February, The X45 links Driffield to York via Market Weighton and Pocklington, whilst the X46 and X47 link Hull to York via Beverley, Market Weighton and Pocklington.

Monday to Friday the 0627 Market Weighton to York X47 was truncated to become a 0641 Pocklington The Balk to York service; Market Weighton retains X46 departures to York at 0607 and 0656.

On Saturdays the 0741 X47 from Market Weighton to York was withdrawn; alternative journeys on service X46 depart Market Weighton at 0721 or 0807. What was the return working, the 0910 X46 from York to Hull, was truncated to become a 1045 X46 from Beverley to Hull; alternative departures from York on service X46 are available at 0840 and 0940.

Monday to Friday the 1705 X45 from Pocklington Depot to York and the 1728 from Pocklington The Balk to York were withdrawn; there is now a gap from Pocklington to York between 1645 (X46) and 1800 (X46). The 1730 X47 from Hull to York was truncated to become a 1735 from Hull to Beverley. The 1810 X47 from Hull to Market Weighton became a 1805 from Hull to Pocklington; however this still leaves a gap in departures from Hull to York between 1700 (X46) and 1915 (X47) and from Pocklington to York between 1832 and 2028. As a cumulative impact of the evening changes into York, from Wilberfoss village centre to York there is now a large gap between 1639 (X45) and 2038 (X47), with a similar length gap from Barmby Moor village into York. Sadly these changes don't make it easy for an evening out in York during the week

In the opposite direction, again Monday to Friday, the 1810 X45 from York to Pocklington The Balk was withdrawn, with the 1755 X46 from York to Hull retimed to 1800. The 1825 X46 from York to Pocklington Depot and 1840 X47 from York to Pocklington The Balk were merged into a 1825 X47 from York to Pocklington The Balk. It's listed in the printed timetable, but as per online timetables the 1950 X46 from York to Hull was also withdrawn. This makes sense as a consequence of the 1730 X47 from Hull being truncated at Beverley. Alternatives are the 1925 X47 from York to Hull, the 2020 X46 from York to Pocklington and the 2120 X47 from York to Hull.

The Saturday 1640 X46 from Hull to York now terminates in Beverley, alternative journeys for travel beyond Beverley depart Hull at 1610 (X46) or 1710 (X47). To 'balance; this out, the 1925 X47 and 1950 X46 departures from York are merged into a 1940 X47 service.

East Yorkshire 41 Slight Saturday Cutbacks

East Yorkshire made minor amendments to services 41 (Hull-Beverley-Driffield-Bridlington), 43 (Hull-Beverley) and 141 (Castle Hill Hospital-Beverley-Driffield-Bridlington) on Sunday 15th February. This included the withdrawal of the 0630 Saturday service 41 between Bridlington and Hull, with the first departure now at 0725 (or at 0700 from Beverley to Hull on service 43). On Saturday evenings, the 1835 service 41 from Hull to Bridlington now terminates in Beverley, leaving a gap from Hull to Bridlington between 1725 and 1935.

East Yorkshire 56/57 Changes

As part of their 15th February service changes, East Yorkshire Buses amended services 56 and 57 in Hull. Headline frequencies were unaltered, but there were some notable changes in the early morning, afternoon peak, early and late evening periods Monday to Friday. Below are the main changes I have identified; it's mostly 'thinning out' the service at certain times of the day.
  • The 0448 and 0510 service 57's from Asda Bilton to Hessle Square have been merged into a single 0500 departure.
  • The 0510 service 56 from Hull Paragon Interchange to Asda Bilton has been withdrawn, first departure now at 0535 on service 57.
  • The 0540 service 57 from Hessle to Asda Bilton has been withdrawn, alternatives journeys are available at 0510 or 0610.
  • The 0550 service 56 from Hull Paragon Interchange to Asda Bilton has been withdrawn, alternative journeys are available at 0535 or 0635 on service 57.
  • The 0615 service 56 from Asda Bilton to Castle Hill Hospital has been withdrawn between Asda Bilton and Hull Paragon Interchange, alternative journeys between Asda Bilton and the Interchange are available at 0600 and 0630, and at 0530 or 0645 for through journeys beyond the City Centre.
  • The 1712 and 1727 service 56's from Castle Hill Hospital have been merged into a single 1722 departure.
  • The 1713 service 57 from Hessle to Hull Paragon Interchange has been withdrawn, alternative journeys are available at 1653 or 1738.
  • The 1812 and 1834 service 56's from Castle Hill Hospital to Asda Bilton have been merged into a single 1822 departure.
  • The 1924 service 57 from Asda Bilton to Hull Paragon Interchange has been withdrawn, alternative journeys are available at 1915 on service 56 or 1933 on service 57,
  • There is a new 2018 service 56 from Asda Bilton to Hull Paragon Interchange.
  • There are new service 57 departures from Asda Bilton to Carr Lane in Hull City Centre at 2258, 2328 and 2358, previous last departure at 2233 (also applies on Saturdays).
Any other key changes I've missed, please leave a comment.

East Yorkshire 52 extended to Willerby

Sadly I have written quite a few negative posts about East Yorkshire's service changes that took place on 15th February. There were some positives to welcome though, including on service 52. I should point out however that I am fairly certain that service 52 has been receiving financial support since the COVID-19 pandemic, so whether these changes have been driven by East Yorkshire Buses, East Riding of Yorkshire Council, or both, isn't clear.

Service 52 between Hull Paragon Interchange and Anlaby was extended to Willerby Monday to Saturday daytimes, when it provides an hourly service. From Lowfield Road/Spire Hospital in Anlaby, the 52 now operates via Beverley Road and Gorton Road before performing a loop in Willerby via Willerby Parkway, Well Lane, Willerby Square and Kingston Road back to Gorton Road and Beverley Road. In Anlaby return journeys to Hull perform a somewhat convoluted route via Wilson Street, Lowfield Road, Beverley Road, Wilson Street (again) and Hull Road, but if the 52 simply followed it's route towards Willerby in reverse, it wouldn't serve any existing stops in Anlaby village centre, and it wouldn't be easy to add any new ones.

As a result of this extension, Willerby Parkway and Well Lane go from a very limited service 26 between Hessle and Beverley to the 26 plus the 52 offering a hourly service to Hull City Centre, Hull Royal Infirmary and Anlaby Village; the same also applies to the local link between Anlaby and Willerby village centres. It also gives Willerby Square an extra service per hour to Hull City Centre and Hull Royal Infirmary.

Another benefit of this change is that co-ordination between the 52 and associated service 53 between Hull, Anlaby and Swanland is improved, with an even interval half hourly service between Hull and Anlaby, rather than two services per hour. Presumably this is helped by the 52 and 53 now being similar length routes with similar 'end-to-end' running times?

In line with other Anlaby Road services operated by East Yorkshire, the 52 and 53 now operate inbound to Paragon Interchange via Park Street, omitting the City Centre Loop in this direction.

Withernsea to Hull Peak Time Reductions

East Yorkshire Buses revised their 75 and X7 services between Hull, Hedon and Withernsea from Sunday 15th February. There were no changes to the 'headline' frequencies - both services still operate every hour Monday to Saturday daytimes for two services per hour combined. However peak time services were reduced.

I initially wrote this post having compared the September 2024 and February 2026 timetables, however I then came across a September 2025 timetable and it seems like there were cutbacks then which I didn't pick up on at the time. So the below reductions and retimings did not all happen in February 2026, but represent the cumulative impact of September 2025 and February 2026.

Monday to Friday, the 0555 Withernsea to Hull service 75 was replaced with a 0626 Hedon to Hull service 75, alternative departures from Withernsea are available at 0515 on service 75 and 0615 on service X7. The 0700 X7 from Withernsea was withdrawn without replacement, alternatives are the 0645 or 0715 service 75's. The 1502 X7 from Withernsea was also withdrawn, leaving a gap between service 75's at 1432 and 1518. From Hull the 1550 X7 was withdrawn, with the 1610 service 75 becoming an X7. The 1630 service 75 moves to 1640 with the 1650 service X7 and 1710 service 75 withdrawn; the 1730 X7 moves to 1720. What was a 20 minute interval from Hull between 1510 and 1730 is now every 30-40 minutes.

On Saturday mornings, the 0555 service 75 from Withernsea was withdrawn; rather than departures at 0525, 0555, 0645 and 0732, it is now 0532, 0632 and 0732. The 0807 service X7 was also withdrawn, with alternative service 75's at 0732 or 0822. From Hull, service 75 departures at 0645, 0715 and 0815 are consolidated into 0655 and 0755 services. Departing Hull the 1710 service 75 and 1730 service X7 are consolidated into a 1720 service 75. The last X7 is now at 1610 and the evening service essentially begins in the 1700 hour.

I presume there has been a transfer of some Withernsea based duties to Hull as part of these changes? Possibly two vehicles worth Monday to Friday and one on Saturdays?

'Up to' Every 20 Minutes

As part of it's service changes on 15th February, East Yorkshire Buses amended service 45 between Hull Paragon Interchange and Castle Hill Hospital in Cottingham for "reliability". That meant the every 20 minute even interval Monday to Saturday daytime frequency now gaining some slightly longer gaps.

Taking Monday to Friday's from Paragon Interchange as an example, off peak daytime departures are 0917, 0937, 0957 then 1023, every 20 minutes to 1143, 1207, 1227, 1247, 1307 then 1337, 1357, 1417, 1437, 1500, 1530, 1550, 1617. Very much 'up to every 20 minutes' rather than 'every 20 minutes'.

Services 54 and 104 'Thinned Out'

Circular services 54/104 operated by East Yorkshire Buses between Hull Paragon Interchange and Cottingham Castle Hill Hospital were 'thinned out' from Sunday 15th February.

On service 54, Monday to Friday morning departures from Castle Hill were reduced from 0535, 0558, 0621, 0650 and 0710 to 0540, 0630 and 0700. On Saturdays the 0707, 0746, 0814 and 0840 journeys were consolidated into 0654, 0754 and 0834 departures. In the other direction, the Monday to Friday 0535 and 0600 departures from Paragon Interchange were withdrawn, leaving a gap between 0515 and 0620, whilst on Saturdays the 0630 and 0710 services have been replaced by a 0615 departure from Paragon Interchange.

Turning to the 104, the first Monday to Friday morning service from Castle Hill at 0528 was withdrawn, first service now at 0557. The 0614 and 0644 departures have been merged into a 0637 service. From Paragon Interchange, the 0520, 0545, 0610 and 0625 departures Monday to Friday have been reduced to 0505, 0550 and 0620 services, with similar reductions on Saturdays consolidating 0630, 0705 and 0735 journeys into 0620 and 0745 departures.

Across both services, there is an increase in the number of gaps of more than 30 minutes in the half hourly Monday to Saturday daytime timetable. Taking service 104 as an example, Monday to Friday from Paragon Interchange, departures were even interval every half hour from 0905 to 1505, then 1540, 1610, 1645, 1715, 1745 and 1825. Now it's 0900, 0930, 1005, 1035, 1105, 1133, 1211, 1241, 1311, 1345, 1420, 1450, 1530, 1610, 1635, 1710, 1750 and 1830. A reduction from 19 to 18 departures overall in the 0900 to 1830 time period.

In line with other Anlaby Road services operated by East Yorkshire Buses, the 54 now operates directly into the Interchange via Park Street on inbound journeys, whilst the 104 now uses Park Street on outbound journeys from the Interchange.

East Yorkshire Spring Bank West and Willerby Road Changes

East Yorkshire Buses amended their Spring Bank West and Willerby Road services 35 and 51 on Sunday 15th February.

On service 35 between Hull and Willerby, departures from Hull Paragon Interchange now operate directly to Spring Bank via Park Street as opposed to using Ferensway and Blundell's Corner. This is in line with changes to East Yorkshire's other Spring Bank service, the 104, and is a return to the route used by East Yorkshire when Paragon Interchange first opened. Only one stop is missed on Spring Bank - within walking distance of either the Interchange or the next stop westbound on Spring Bank - and I'd argue the time saving justifies it.

The 35 has a slightly reduced Monday to Friday early morning service. The first departures from Willerby at 0546 and 0624 are merged into a 0600 service and the first departure from Hull Paragon Interchange is now at 0640 rather than 0605. On Saturday mornings the 0654 first service from Willerby is now at 0710 and the 0630 first service from Hull is now at 0735.

Service 51 between Hull and Wymersley Road also has a new route in Hull City Centre; in line with other East Yorkshire Anlaby Road services, inbound journeys now route directly to Paragon Interchange, omitting the City Centre Loop. At the other end of the route, the 51 no longer operates via Wymersley Road and Wold Road in both directions, instead operating a loop via Willerby Road, Wymersley Road and Wold Road back to Willerby Road. For the section of Willerby Road between County Road and Wymersley Road that is a large increase in service provision.

Three morning journeys into Hull on service 51 now start back at Willerby Square, bringing back memories of the old service 34 which combined what are now the 35 and 51 at lower demand times of day. Departures from Willerby are at 0618, 0648 and 0708 Monday to Friday, and 0658, 0925 and 0945 Saturdays, and in part compensate for the 35's early morning reductions. The first morning departure from Hull on Saturdays is now an hour later at 0735 rather than 0635 and a number of 25 minute gaps between services have been introduced into the every 20 minute Saturday daytime frequency.

New Route for the Hessle Town Service

Hessle Town Service 183, operated by East Yorkshire Buses for East Riding of Yorkshire Council and Hessle Town Council was revised from Wednesday 18th February. It continues to operate five journeys Wednesday and Friday mornings/early afternoon. The changes were due to "customer and stakeholder requests".

Previously the 183 departed Hessle Square and operated via Butterfield Road, Ferry Road, Station Road, Chestnut Avenue, Davenport Avenue, Woodfield Lane, Heads Lane and Jenny Brough Lane to Northwood Drive and Greenfield Avenue before returning back along Jenny Brough Lane and parts of Heads Lane. The 183 then operated via Tranby Avenue, Barrow Lane and Swanland Road to Cemetery Corner before turning north up Beverley Road to Darleys Roundabout. From Darleys, the 183 used to operate along Boothferry Road and First Lane to Sainsbury's, before operating back to Hessle Square, then back to Sainsbury's and back once again to Hessle Square.

The 183 now starts from Sainsbury's, operates to Hessle Square then briefly picks up it's old route to Station Road. From Station Road, the 183 now operates via Southfield/Hessle Station to Woodfield Lane, with Chestnut Avenue and Davenport Avenue now unserved. From Woodfield Avenue the old route is again followed until Cemetery Corner, where services now turn south to Hessle Square. Boothferry Road and First Lane are therefore also no longer served by the 183. After Hessle Square the return to Sainsbury's is via Priory Park and Ride, for access to the Aldi store opposite.

EDIT - As kindly pointed out in the comments below, there is an error in the description of the old route above. At Cemetery Corner it turned south to Hessle Square before double backing on itself to Cemetery Corner and onwards to Darleys Roundabout. So the new route follows the old route from Woodfield Avenue to Hessle Square.
