First Dalesbus, now Moorsbus

Earlier this year, Pocklington joined the Dalesbus network, thanks to East Yorkshire winning the contract to provide the 822 Sunday service between York and Grassington, along with an interworked service 875 journey between Grassington and Hawes.

Now in similar circumstances, Pocklington has joined the Moorsbus network after East Yorkshire won the contract to provide one bus every Saturday, Sunday (and August Bank Holiday Monday) between 2nd July and 25th September inclusive. Service M31 provides one service from Pocklington via York and Easingwold to Helmsley every operating day, further extending to Kirkbymoorside and Pickering on Saturdays only. The M31 leaves Pocklington at 0840 Saturdays and 0835 Sundays and Bank Holiday Monday, returning at 1838 Saturday and 1912 Sundays and Bank Holiday Monday. As with the 875, the M31 sticks to the A1079 between Pocklington and York but does serve all the stops it passes.

Whilst in the Yorkshire Moors, East Yorkshire will operate on service M3 on Saturdays and service M4 on Sundays and Bank Holiday Monday. The Saturday M31 immediately becomes a M3 at Pickering travelling to Danby, then works a Danby-Pickering-Malton round trip before a Danby-Pickering service that continues as the homeward M31. On Sundays and Bank Holiday Monday the M31 immediately becomes a M4 at Helmsley travelling onto Guisborough via Stokesley; there is then a Guisborough-Helmsley-Sutton Bank round trip before a final Guisborough to Helmsley service and returning to Pocklington on the M31.

The Sunday M4 is notable in that it takes East Yorkshire into the Tees Valley area as a consequence of serving Guisborough.

So with these summer services, East Yorkshire's operating area stretches from just short of Cumbria (Hawes is a couple of miles from the border on the way to Garsdale) over to near Teeside and down to North Lincolnshire with the 350, that's a hell of a headache if something goes wrong and they need to send up another bus lol.

I travelled on an East Yorkshire service M4 boarding at Guisborough in 2009 so this isn't the first time they've operated a service there.
