Hornsby Service 6 Change

From 10th September, Hornsby service 6 between Scunthorpe and Ashby is being revised. One week earlier, Stagecoach are making amendments to their journeys on the jointly operated route. For more on Stagecoach's September changes, see the comments on this post.

If the previous comment on the service changes item is to be believed, the new 6 journey at 7:30 will run only 5-6 minutes in front of one of the Hornsby services on the way back into town - Maybe they are removing this journey?

Hornsby's running times do differ slightly from those of Stagecoach and, although 10 miniute interval departures are sheduled from Scunthorpe, by the time that each srevice returns there is a pattern of 14 and 6 miniute gaps so the new 07.30 departure will simply fit into this pattern unless one or the other operator revises their times. In the past, when there were three operators on this service, there was no difference in running times between these operators although the Road Car did manage to get different running times for various services running over the same section of route, eg. between Scunthorpe and Ashby Turn.

Actually a stagecoach run at 7.30 would run in-between the two Hornsby runs Manifold Road: 07.52 Arr at bus station at 08.11.

I would put money on Horbsby taking off the 07.36 and 07.56 journeys and making the 08.00 & 08.20 start at there Depot at 08.16 and 08.36.

It should provide a more even space timing in the mornings

So there no journeys are axed its seems but all now being re-timed to better fit inbetween Stagecoach runs better

Oddly, whilst the end to end running times will now generally be the same regardless of operator, there will still be some differences in intermediate times between Hormsby and Stagecoach though.
