Services 54 and 104 'Thinned Out'

Circular services 54/104 operated by East Yorkshire Buses between Hull Paragon Interchange and Cottingham Castle Hill Hospital were 'thinned out' from Sunday 15th February.

On service 54, Monday to Friday morning departures from Castle Hill were reduced from 0535, 0558, 0621, 0650 and 0710 to 0540, 0630 and 0700. On Saturdays the 0707, 0746, 0814 and 0840 journeys were consolidated into 0654, 0754 and 0834 departures. In the other direction, the Monday to Friday 0535 and 0600 departures from Paragon Interchange were withdrawn, leaving a gap between 0515 and 0620, whilst on Saturdays the 0630 and 0710 services have been replaced by a 0615 departure from Paragon Interchange.

Turning to the 104, the first Monday to Friday morning service from Castle Hill at 0528 was withdrawn, first service now at 0557. The 0614 and 0644 departures have been merged into a 0637 service. From Paragon Interchange, the 0520, 0545, 0610 and 0625 departures Monday to Friday have been reduced to 0505, 0550 and 0620 services, with similar reductions on Saturdays consolidating 0630, 0705 and 0735 journeys into 0620 and 0745 departures.

Across both services, there is an increase in the number of gaps of more than 30 minutes in the half hourly Monday to Saturday daytime timetable. Taking service 104 as an example, Monday to Friday from Paragon Interchange, departures were even interval every half hour from 0905 to 1505, then 1540, 1610, 1645, 1715, 1745 and 1825. Now it's 0900, 0930, 1005, 1035, 1105, 1133, 1211, 1241, 1311, 1345, 1420, 1450, 1530, 1610, 1635, 1710, 1750 and 1830. A reduction from 19 to 18 departures overall in the 0900 to 1830 time period.

In line with other Anlaby Road services operated by East Yorkshire Buses, the 54 now operates directly into the Interchange via Park Street on inbound journeys, whilst the 104 now uses Park Street on outbound journeys from the Interchange.
