Temporary Cuts Partly Restored

On 23rd February, East Yorkshire Buses introduced "temporary" frequency cuts to certain routes in the Hull area, due to staff and parts shortages. Service Changes on 31st August partly reversed those reductions.

Service 44 between Hull Paragon Interchange and Cottingham Road remains withdrawn except for two Monday to Saturday evening journeys. Service 45 however between Hull Paragon Interchange, Cottingham Road, Cottingham and Castle Hill Hospital was increased Monday to Saturday daytimes from every half hour to every 20 minutes. On the combined section of route, the 44/45 frequency was every 10 minutes Monday to Friday daytimes pre-23rd February, was reduced to every half hour and since 31st August has become every 20 minutes. Saturday daytimes were every 15 minutes pre-23rd February, then went half hourly and are now every 20 minutes. From the Cottingham Road/Hall Road roundabout to Castle Hill Hospital, the frequency is now higher than before the "temporary" cuts.

Route 51 from Hull Paragon Interchange to Wymersley Road, as well as the 56 from Asda Bilton to Castle Hill Hospital and the 57 from Asda Bilton to Hessle had their Saturday daytime reductions from every 20 minutes to half hourly reversed in full.

Not so lucky though is the 58 from Hull Paragon Interchange to Hessle which remains at it's reduced Monday to Saturday daytime frequency of every 20 minutes, down from every 15 minutes pre-23rd February.

Are the 44/45 and 58 cuts no longer temporary? Certainly on the 44/45 with the frequency increase to Castle Hill Hospital, it's unlikely the pre-23rd February service pattern will ever return in it's exact same format.
