Hessle Town Service 183, operated by East Yorkshire Buses for East Riding of Yorkshire Council and Hessle Town Council was revised from Wednesday 18th February. It continues to operate five journeys Wednesday and Friday mornings/early afternoon. The changes were due to "customer and stakeholder requests".
Previously the 183 departed Hessle Square and operated via Butterfield Road, Ferry Road, Station Road, Chestnut Avenue, Davenport Avenue, Woodfield Lane, Heads Lane and Jenny Brough Lane to Northwood Drive and Greenfield Avenue before returning back along Jenny Brough Lane and parts of Heads Lane. The 183 then operated via Tranby Avenue, Barrow Lane and Swanland Road to Cemetery Corner before turning north up Beverley Road to Darleys Roundabout. From Darleys, the 183 used to operate along Boothferry Road and First Lane to Sainsbury's, before operating back to Hessle Square, then back to Sainsbury's and back once again to Hessle Square.
The 183 now starts from Sainsbury's, operates to Hessle Square then briefly picks up it's old route to Station Road. From Station Road, the 183 now operates via Southfield/Hessle Station to Woodfield Lane, with Chestnut Avenue and Davenport Avenue now unserved. From Woodfield Avenue the old route is again followed until Cemetery Corner, where services now turn south to Hessle Square. Boothferry Road and First Lane are therefore also no longer served by the 183. After Hessle Square the return to Sainsbury's is via Priory Park and Ride, for access to the Aldi store opposite.
